Visa type depends on the purpose of entry into Ukraine (a
business, private, tourist, transit etc).
No group visas are provided in the USA.
NOTE: Since only one type of visa is issued per entry, the
primary purpose of entry should be stated in the Application
form and the supporting document related to this purpose must
be provided.
IMPORTANT: Invitation letters are
NOT necessary for citizens of US, Canada, Japan, Switzerland,
Slovak Republic, Turkey and citizens of the countries of the
European Union for obtaining official, business, private,
cultural/ sporting and scientific visas.
The type of visa required depends on the purpose of the applicants'
entry into Ukraine. ALONG WITH ALL THE ITEMS LISTED, applicants
must additionally submit certain documents, or "supporting
documents" to further explain the applicant's purpose
of entry. The supporting documents are listed below under
the appropriate visa type:
A) BUSINESS, SCIENTIFIC,
CULTURAL/SPORTING VISAS (except citizens of the countries
mentioned above)
An original invitation (in some exclusive cases a legible
fax version may be also accepted) from a legal entity duly
registered in Ukraine, typed on its letterhead containing
its official address and telephone number, signed by an authorized
officer (other than the applicant) of the entity, bearing
its seal and accompanied, when applicable, by a clear copy
of its valid Certificate of Registration in Ukraine. The invitation
must detail the purpose and if necessary the number of visits,
exact travel dates, cities and/or towns to be visited and
provide basic passport data of the invitee.
B) VISA for RELIGIOUS
MISSION
An original letter of invitation from a Ukrainian religious
organization for a foreign missionary must contain or be accompanied
by a written confirmation under the signature and seal of
a responsible official of the State Committee of Ukraine on
Religious Matters or of the department on religious matters
of a regional or city administration depending on where the
sponsoring organization is registered (according to the acting
Law of Ukraine foreign citizens staying temporarily in Ukraine
can perform religious activities only in those religious organizations
which have invited them and provided official approval by
state authorities by which the statute of the inviting organization
was registered).
C) VISA for HUMANITARIAN
MISSION
For individuals providing Humanitarian Aid, a visa is issued
only on the basis of a letter of support from the Commission
at the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for coordination, acceptance,
transportation, security and distribution of humanitarian
aid rendered by foreign States.
D) VISA for MEMBERS
OF RESCUE SERVICES
Approval by the Ministry of Emergency Issues of Ukraine.
E) STUDENT VISA
Invitation of an established type issued by the Ministry
of Education of Ukraine.
F) VISA for MASS
MEDIA STAFF
Instruction by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine
on issuing the visa.
G) PRIVATE VISA
(except citizens of the above – mentioned countries)
-For a home stay visit (Ï-1 type) - only original
invitation of an established type issued in the applicant's
name by a local Immigration Authorities of the Ministry of
Internal Affairs of Ukraine where the sponsor permanently
resides or other documents proving the private nature of the
trip;
-For medical treatment (Ï-1 type) - an official notification
from the medical institution providing treatment to the applicant;
-Applicants of Ukrainian origin may apply for a Ï-2
type Ukrainian visa in
person only and then are subject to an interview
at the Consulate General. Applicants for type P-2 visas should
submit the following documents:
- Applicant’s written request
- Original Ukrainian birth certificate and a copy
of it
- If the last name on applicant's passport and birth certificate
is different the copy of the document of change of name is
mandatory.
- Filled out application form.
- One recent passport size photograph.
- Valid passport.
- Self-addressed prepaid envelope (United States Postal
Service Express or Priority Mail envelopes only)
in case the documents need to be returned after the visa interview
by mail.
· In case of emergency (unexpected illness, death of relatives)
visas can be obtained upon submitting a certified cable from
a doctor of the Ukrainian clinic or a copy of death certificate;
· For a burial site visit - an original Ukrainian Red Cross
official confirmation of an existing grave of the applicant's
blood relative;
H) TOURIST VISA
A letter of invitation from a Ukrainian or American tourist
agency or a confirmation from a Ukrainian hotel is necessary
to qualify for a tourist visa. Starting from April 1st 2004
the Consulate General of Ukraine considers AeroSvit Airlines
roundtrip ticket as a document, which proves tourist character
of a trip to Ukraine by citizens of US, European Union countries,
Canada, Switzerland and Japan.
I) TRANSIT VISA
A valid visa to the country of destination, other documents
which confirm entry into that country, or a confirmed one
way or round trip ticket for travel from the point of entry
into Ukraine to the point of entry into the next country from
Ukraine are acceptable supporting documents for transit visas.
This visa does not authorize an applicant's stay in Ukraine
and is not required for a non-stop flight over Ukraine.
J) IMMIGRATION VISA
IM-1 applicants entering Ukraine for employment purposes
must submit:
- A labour authorization document - (DOZVIL NA PRATSEVLASHTUVANNIA)
in the name of the applicant issued by the Ministry of Labour
of Ukraine and obtained for him/her in advance by the employer
in Ukraine.
- A valid passport or travel documents (permit to re-entry
to the United States for non-Ukrainian citizens only). Please
allow for at least one free page for a visa. Copies are not
acceptable.
- One completed application form (in Adobe Acrobat) printed
or written in block letters in black ink.
- One recent passport size photograph.
- If you submit a passport of a child alone it must be accompanied
by a joint notarized written request from both parents or
by a copy of the parents' visas.
IM-2 applicants entering Ukraine for permanent residence
must submit:
- Permission for permanent residence in Ukraine obtained
from Ukrainian Immigration Authorities of the Ministry of
Interior of Ukraine.
- A valid passport or travel documents (permit to re-entry
to the United States for non-Ukrainian citizens only). Please
allow for at least one free page for a visa. Copies are not
acceptable.
- One completed application
form (in Adobe
Acrobat) printed or written in block letters in black
ink.
- One recent passport size photograph.
- If you submit a passport of a child alone it must be accompanied
by a joint notarized written request from both parents or
by copies of their visas.
K) VISA for INTERNATIONAL
TRANSPORT SERVICE STAFF
License for international transportation issued by the corresponding
agency of the host country.
L) DIPLOMATIC VISAS
Are issued to the following categories of persons having
diplomatic passports:
· diplomatic members of foreign missions and consular posts
in Ukraine and to members of their families;
· aliens, entering Ukraine with diplomatic missions;
· diplomatic couriers;
· members of governments, parliaments, international organizations;
· prominent politicians whose entry into Ukraine is a diplomatic
issue.
M) SERVICE VISAS
(C-1, C-2, C-3) are divided into three categories
and are issued to:
· service staff of foreign diplomatic missions and consular
posts in Ukraine and to members of their families; members
of Ukraine-based international organizations; state power
bodies officials of foreign countries who enter into Ukraine
on business;
· members of military formations and institutions who enter
into Ukraine on business by invitation of related State bodies;
· representatives of manufacturing, trade, financial and
political circles who enter into Ukraine on business by invitation
of State institutions registered in Ukraine in the established
order.
